FTX head of engineering and cooperating witness
Profile
Nishad Singh served as head of engineering at FTX, the cryptocurrency exchange founded by Sam Bankman-Fried. A key member of SBF's inner circle, Singh helped build the technical systems that enabled the transfer of billions in customer funds from FTX to Alameda Research.[1]
Singh pleaded guilty to fraud and campaign finance charges in February 2023 and became a cooperating witness for the prosecution. His testimony at trial helped establish how FTX's software was deliberately designed to allow Alameda to withdraw unlimited funds from the exchange without triggering alerts.[1][2]
In October 2024, Singh was sentenced to time served and three years of supervised release — avoiding prison entirely due to what prosecutors described as his significant cooperation, including providing early access to critical technical evidence.[2]
